St. Peter's Basilica
November 20, 2007
Since most of my pictures from inside St. Peter's Basilica did not turn out, I
did some searching. As with the Coliseum, there are hundreds of pictures of St.
Peter's Basilica on the internet. Here are some pictures which are equivalent to my bad pictures.
Before you even enter the Basilica , there is plenty to see right outside the main
doors in the Portico. The outside ceiling is amazing to see as well as the carvings
above the doors, and even the doors themselves.

The first time I entered into St. Peter's Basilica, my breath was taken away. As is the pattern
in Rome, the Basilica is enormous and magnificent. This is what you see on initial entry.
The "curtained" area directly down the center of the floor has marbles floor pieces with
engravings on them. Almost in the center of the picture is St. Peter's tomb
which you saw on my previous page.
Everywhere you look, it is a piece of art telling
a story, including the ceilings and the domes. Even the underside
of the archways have different pictures.
