The Pantheon

November 21, 2007

After we finished watching all the cats, er the temples and altars in Largo Argentina, we walked to the Pantheon, only three blocks away. Walking straight from the Tram stop, as I mentioned on the previous page, you walk along Via della Rotunda, and approach the Pantheon from the back and right side.

Walk out into the Piazza della Rotunda and whoa-la - the Pantheon.

In the plaza outside the Pantheon, there is an obelisk with hieroglyphics on it.

In the total fascination of it all, sometimes the mind escapes. Mine certainly was while I was in awe of all the things we were seeing in Rome. Again, this was more evidence of how the ancient Romans did not build things on a small scale. I had to go to the farthest corner of the plaza, I should use the Italian word Piazza, in order to try and squeeze the obelisk and the Pantheon into the same picture.

This is looking down the via on the "left" side of the Pantheon from the above view.

If you continue walking down that via, you will come to a small piazza. You see this side of the Pantheon.

Turn around and you see this obelisk held by an elephant.

Ah, but we must see the inside of the Pantheon.
