Date: Sat, 21 Sep 1996 From: Tina Vivian Thought I'd share a poem I wrote many years ago when I first saw the TV episode that aired Starbuck's "fate"... (I was about 16 or so...) _Somewhere left behind_ She weeps and he sighs at what they now face, Alone and separate, their hearts and mind race. The guilt she accepts, the betrayal he feels - Just part of the emotions that in their souls reel. Then, his soul hurts. The one once feared to give, Love comes hardest to those who in solitude live. The thoughts panic and tear at the heart and the mind, And hopes he is false in what he fears he will find. As does she, for she knows her love has crashed, And whether he lives, she not yet has asked. She clutches for her heart, eyes lowering in sorrow, And a tear finds its way while she waits word from the 'morrow. And they stare at the heavens, as one and divided, Hope against hope to be revived and united. Always knowing the face of the strife, Ensured in sorrow that they face a new life. She turns from the stars, downtrod and alone, Forlorn, he examines his new illgotten home. Facing his world, sorrow caught in the air, She abandons the star room and gathers loves care. _________ Hope you like it... by Tina L. Vivian, c. 1982
